Rabbit Brand Seafood Delicacies

Rabbit Brand, not referring to the rabbit brand sweets that’s tainted with melamine. This rabbit is tucked in lucky plaza and it bounces out of my mind whenever I’m hungry and looking for a place for a decent budget meal around orchard road. They serve budget shark’s fin, sea cucumber, scallops and abalone meals at very affordable prices. Although they aren’t really authentic (not those big abalone or top grade shark’s fin) but these yummy complete meals are definitely a steal around this bustling shopping district. Meals here ranges from $5.50 to $12.50 and each set comes with a dessert and tea. I guess I tried all their meals before. Went there rather late and most of my favorite items were sold out, so I made do with their cheapest shark’s fin soup meal which comes with either abalone noodles, udon or kuey teow. I lurve the XO sauce that is served with the noodles. Boonie and me will definitely order the spinach tofu whenever we visit this place, goes well with rice or simply eaten on its own.

Ah Lin Fishball Noodles

Used to visit this stall when I was in secondary school, will pass by when I’m on my way home. It used to be quite crowded, perhaps I was lucky to miss the lunch crowd. There’s another stall at simpang bedok who claims to hail from jalan tua kong (lau lim mee pok), they occupy the whole shop unlike this who rents a stall from the kopitiam. They taste quite similar to me, both serve fairly delicious noodles. Shall blog on it next time when I’m there.

Dad ordered a bowl for $3, comes with 2 fresh prawns. The noodles are springy in texture, kinda translucent.

Rochor Beancurd House

Dad bought home rochor’s soya beancurd for breakfast. There’s hot soya beancurd, soyabean drink and youtiao. Mmm… what a meal to start my day! Best combi. Their daohuay is so smooth, you can simply slurp it up and it’ll slide through the gaps in between your teeth.

Yong’s Teochew Kueh

Mum bought a box of peng kueh for mahjong snack. She frequent this stall as its kinda near her workplace. Was kinda hungree so I had one for supper. I like my peng kueh fried cos I like the skin crispy, just pan fry for a few minutes on each side and drizzle dark sweet sauce. Kinda guilty for a hearty supper.

Jing Hua Fish Soup

Was with Boonie around Chinatown but had no idea what to makan for dinner. Had a gut feeling that Chinatown Food Centre would be damn crowded so we headed to Maxwell after buying toiletries at people’s park. Had been quite some time since we last patronize this stall. Long queue wor… but that’s a common sight. I had the fried fish slices with beehoon whereas Boonie had fried fish slices soup with rice $4 each. The soup was overly rich with carnation milk and some sort of cooking wine, could have tone down on the milk cos fattening wor. Heehee… 🙂 We were quite lucky cos the next few person after us were turned down as they ran out of fish liao.. Hahaha… Heng sia…

Crystal Jade Kitchen & La Mian Xiao Long Bao

Sunday lunch at crystal jade with Boonie and my family. Boonie’s treat which means I eat as much as I want! HeeHee… You can order from both crystal jade kitchen and la mian xiao long bao at this branch cos they share the same premise. The pictures were taken hastily because there were anxious chopsticks waiting to dig in whenever a dish was served. Everyone was whining “can eat already anot?”. Hahaha…

Dim sum was the average restaurant standard, nothing to wow or boo about.

Joo Heng Mushroom Minced Pork Mee

This is an outdated post. Lunched here with Boonie after he went for gym @ yck. He intro me to this stall he frequents. The market was burnt down last year so we visited this stall at its temporary location. The queue was quite long, mostly students from a nearby school. Haha… long queue normally means good food right?

QQ Noodle House

Saturday dinner @ bugis. The fried noodles was very tasty, will order it again but the noodles in soup didn’t fare as well. The soup was overly starchy, abit like lor mee.

Paradise on Earth Steamboat Buffet

Celebrated my sis’s bdae with my family recently @ this steamboat buffet restaurant AKA tian fu huo guo. $18.80 per head for adults. Its ala carte buffet style. Was busy cooking and tucking in, only managed to take a pic of the hotpot. Will include some other pics I took when I ate there previously.
