Gave Rina a belated bdae treat to Tampopo. We chose this place after reading many reviews. Though some of the reviews weren’t in favor of Tampopo, but we wanna check it out ourselves. Tampopo is famous for their black pig aka Kutobuta, its a kind of grade for pork just like how you would grade wagyu beef.

What really excites us is the conveyor belt, it isn’t what you normally see at sake sushi. Their conveyor belt automatically delivers side dishes from the kitchen to designated tables, instead of having us to pick up our dish from the belt. How cool is this!

I ordered their acclaimed black pig shabu shabu ramen ($13.80). Quite your average ramen at Japanese joints. Completed my ramen meal with inari sushi ($2.40) which you see arriving on the conveyor belt. The sushi was commendable, lurve the sticky rice stuffed inside these tofu bags.

Linda was down with a sore throat so she ordered all cold dishes. The zaru soba ($8.00) and potato salad ($4.30) was typical. Note that their cold tofu ($4.00) comes plain without any sauce.

Rina was keen to try out their much acclaimed black pig, so she ordered the normal grade tokusen loin set. She claims that this black pig katsu is much nicer. I personally found it normal…

Wanted to try out their strawberry shortcake but we were too full to stuff anything else down our throats. Hence we decided to stroll around the mall before heading to Tampopo Deli at the basement to try out their cream puffs. Total bill came up to $63.60. Pretty reasonable, comparable to Waraku.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Was greeted with this tray of mini chocolate cupcakes at my door around 8am. Gesture from my malay neighbor who is a great chef. She always brings us different kinds of food, one of my favorite is her fish head bee hoon. Trust me, its better than most of the chinese stalls. These cupcakes came just in time for me to bring some to school for breakfast and snacks during lecture.

Rabbit Brand Seafood Delicacies

Rabbit Brand, not referring to the rabbit brand sweets that’s tainted with melamine. This rabbit is tucked in lucky plaza and it bounces out of my mind whenever I’m hungry and looking for a place for a decent budget meal around orchard road. They serve budget shark’s fin, sea cucumber, scallops and abalone meals at very affordable prices. Although they aren’t really authentic (not those big abalone or top grade shark’s fin) but these yummy complete meals are definitely a steal around this bustling shopping district. Meals here ranges from $5.50 to $12.50 and each set comes with a dessert and tea. I guess I tried all their meals before. Went there rather late and most of my favorite items were sold out, so I made do with their cheapest shark’s fin soup meal which comes with either abalone noodles, udon or kuey teow. I lurve the XO sauce that is served with the noodles. Boonie and me will definitely order the spinach tofu whenever we visit this place, goes well with rice or simply eaten on its own.

Cottage Waffle Place

Headed to cottage waffle place for dessert after dinner at suntec. Its located at a rather hidden and deep corner of level 3, next to pho-hoa. We ordered a ice-cream waffle ($5.90) to share, boonie picked the brownie ice-cream. They offer quite a range in this small corner, there’s waffle-wich where you can choose from various sweet or savory fillings, ice-cream waffle and even fondue. But their waffles aren’t exactly what I would yearn to return for more. I would say it lacked this “waffle” taste and it was simply ordinary.

Contemplating what to have for lunch after gym. Hungree after our workout, we chose tori q over yoshinoya as its cheaper. Haha.. Both of us had sat A which consist of 2 chicken, 1 pork and 1 chicken-ball skewers. I requested for additional sauce… i like my rice drenched in dark sauce.

The cheng tng stall i frequent at bedok corner cos its kinda near my place. This stall has been around for quite some time, i remember my Dad bringing me here for cheng tng when i was little. Though its kinda pricey at $2 a bowl but this cheng tng really stands out with its really refreshing soup and lots of ingredients, one of which is my favorite dried persimmon. I like my cheng tng cold, very thirst quenching on a hot day. The stall owner is a very cheeky chap, he likes to engage into conversations with his customer or even call his female customers “mei nu”. Hahaha… very jovial uncle.

Lunch in Lab

Grabbed a four leaves sandwich and a packet of milk from science canteen and headed to the lab to have my lunch while studying for my mid sem paper. Its a tuna and egg mayo sandwich, its actually quite fattening cos of the mayo.

Oreo Cheesecake

Have been yearning to make a cheesecake. Decided to make oreo cheesecake since it doesn’t require any baking but it was a strenuous effort whipping the cream cheese. The reviews were quite good, especially my cousin Charmaine who awarded me with distinction for the cake. Hahaha… Although some said that the cake was too creamy. Distributed the whole cake to friends and relatives cos I don’t reallie eat things I cook or bake. Glad that they all liked it and nothing was gone to waste.

Rina’s post bdae celebration. This is one of the better PartyWorld outlets I’ve been, cos its new. There are 2 big LCD screens in each room, one for song selection and the other for the music video :p. They even have different light settings and each room comes with dice for gambling. Pictures were taken in the room which explains the blueish disco lighting we set that night.

I bought dearest cutie a slice of her favorite strawberry oreo cheesecake from the cheesecake cafe at siglap. Didn’t take a pic of it when I just bought. The slice you see here experienced a 360degree somersault on the esclator. Hahaha… I was too engrossed talking to Rina without realizing that I lost grip of it. Sorry Rina… but luckily you saw it before it fell. Hope you like it!

Tempted by the calling of haato’s gelato situated next to curry rice. There was a promo going on, $0.50 off topup. We shared 2 flavors, green tea with red bean and mocha for $4.50. We kinda preferred the green tea red bean over mocha.

P.S: Rina ask me to take a pic of the ice-cream boy. She finds him kinda cute. Hahaha…. Please lah, i think you’re older than him lor…
